Gnenn, Re: "INTC: ABN-AMRO increased estimate for quarter ending 12/98
from $0.90 to $0.92 on 09/11/98"

Thinking about when Intel starts year over year quarterly, improvements in earnings again:

For quarter ending 12/98, they need to exceed $0.98 per share (what they made in 4Q98). Looks like a stretch considering the estimate by ABN-AMRO, which is the highest you posted. However, if things continue to improve, who knows?

1Q99 exceeding 1Q98 is in the bag barring a world catastrophe. Intel made $0.72 in 1Q98. Foreseeable quarters after that, barring a big paradigm change, should also all be in the bag. YOY comparisons are important because someone always drags them out, if they want to be negative when otherwise good news comes out. And, there are some who will always be negative, apparently to his grave.
