I would caution on the use of any numerical data from that long ago for three reasons:

1) Relevance - the political climate was considerably different as were the charges and their source.

2) Empirical data sources that drive market activity and even the structure of the DOW itself, have changed dramatically.

3) Causality - I think it is tenuous to say that the market is affected for any length of time by a "crisis" in an administration. (We all get over it.)
