A complete surprise to me and a whole lot of questions.

This months 'Motor Trend' magazine (September), has an excellent advertisement obviously from ECD. It discusses batteries, EVs, various pluses and minuses and other things... In describing the Honda EV+ I enclose an EXCERPT:

".............The EV Plus uses 24 Ovonic sealed nickel- metal-hydride batteries that provide an EPA estimated 125-mile range per charge...."

I'm stunned! All this time I assumed the batteries to be Matsuchita (panasonic) batteries.

I recall hearing from somewhere, once, that half the Honda EV + battery packs were Matsuchita and the other half were Ovonic but I obviously dismissed the thought.
Questions:

Who made(is making) the Ovonic Batteries for Honda? Ovonic? GM/Ovonic? Goldpeak? Sanoh? Honda? Other?
Are they made by hand or are they manufactured batteries?

These are almost assuredly gen1 70kwh hr batteries. (as opposed to the 80 KWH gen2 batteries presently being manufactured by GM/OVONIC)

Presumably they were available for the EV1s but could not be placed in the gen1 EV1s because of their inability to be properly cooled in Gen 1.EV1s. (That problem has been corrected in gen2 EV1s.

Did I miss something that some of you knew? Were we told about the Honda EV+ Ovonic batteries? I'm a bit nonplussed (pun) about this but finally it's pretty dammed good news. Those Honda's and their batteries have been extremely good according to their drivers.

Comments please.
