FEDSPEAK...

Lisa:

When AG speaks, one would need the Rosetta Stone to interpret the true meaning of his words... : >

The phrase that "the U.S. is not an Oasis that would be unaffected by the economic storms around the world" (paraphrase), tells me that he is setting us up for a rate cut... It also tells me that he is very concerned about these worldwide economic and domestic political (Clinton), problems...

There are many strong arguments for not cutting rates based on current U.S. economic strength... But, I think the political needs will outweigh the current economic reality... The world cannot afford a Big Bang U.S. stock market crash in conjunction with Impeachment hearings, and collapsing Japanese, Russian, and Latin American markets... The immediate Bandaid fix is a FED rate cut to inject temporary euphoria into world markets, and allow foreign currencies to rise against the Dollar... It cannot solve all the problems we are seeing around the world or at home... It does give the high rollers another chance to sell into this rally... The question is, will it be the last rally for a while?
