OT re:annoying Clinton lawyer legalese. I am sure a lot of us if not most Americans are getting annoyed with the contrast between Clinton's apologies and David Kendall his lawyer's continued parsing of words to claim no legal perjury occurred. After watching a bit of C-span of the Ashcroft hearings on whether a sitting president can be indicted and knowing that Ken Starr has spent time looking into the issue I now see why his lawyer wants and feels the need to maintain this relatively ludicrous approach. Besides the obvious point of trying to argue no impeachable offense has occurred I think they fear that a zealous Ken Starr might still consider indicting Clinton and it is conceivable though unlikely that when Starr sees public reaction so far seems little changed despite his report, he might feel he needs to push forward with an indictment against Clinton in a crusade to get what he considers an evil man out of office. Besides directly indicting Clinton his Grand Jury goes on and I can see him doing something like indicting Harold Ickes for perjury and trying to make Clinton an unindicted co-conspirator. The latest polls remain Clinton's friend with a healthy majority polling his way on the 3 crucial questions; 1)job approval holding around 60% or above, and a healthy majority answering no to each of the other two crucial questions-do you want Clinton impeached and Do you want Clinton to resign. It is still early for poll conclusions and if Justa's referenced Drudge report tape becomes something that is real and damaging things could change rapidly. Just to show this is not completely off topic I will say continued strong poll results can only be market friendly as it decreases the probability of drastic action
