Ike,

One thing you must understand. When French men are coming to work in America for the first time, they are often required to take a seminar or special instruction to learn that they cannot treat American women in the same way that they are in the habit of treating French women, and they are typically shocked to learn that American women are considered equal to men, deserving of a certain respect and enjoy certain rights, such as not to be groped or propositioned while at work.

American woman fought hard to be entitled to be regarded as intelligent. They don't want to compete in bed with other woman for their jobs, or job level. They want the law to protect them from having to suffer this injustice. I'm sure if you thought about it for more than a little while, and perhaps if your boys were girls, you might be more open to understand this.

My problem with the whole issue of Mr. Clinton's continued pattern of lying is that woman like Paula Jones can get no justice as long as it is OK to lie under oath if it's about sex, even if you are the President of the United States, someone who should care MOST about our laws, and not one who is MOST ABOVE our laws.

And, if your "man's world" attitude prevails in this case, then I suppose we should consider how this will effect other crimes as well. If we approve of this president's actions now, then we are saying that it's ok to lie under oath if it's about sex, because this is the way of the world.

Okay then, let's say there's been a murder, and there is a witness who is called to identify the murderer, but he lies and says he was not even present at the murder; he didn't see anything, because at the time of the murder he was with a woman who was not his wife, and he didn't want anyone to know. This is okay, then, right Ike? This man's inaction should have no consequences.

And also, what if your little boy runs suddenly out in the road and is hit by a car. Let's say the man driving the car is with another woman, not his wife, so even though your son is in the road hurt and dying this man continues to drive away, because he does not want to be caught with another woman, and so after a little time your son dies in the road.

Later, this man is questioned, and he denies everything. It is proven by a third witness, say, another child who was nearby and who saw everything, that this man did indeed run over your son, and so the truth comes out. If the rules are as you say, this man will not be charged. Hitting your son was an accident, because your son was playing and suddenly ran out..... nobody can blame the man for this unfortunate accident as he simply could not stop in time. But, you will say, if this man had stopped to help my son he would have been alive today. Yes, too bad, but we must understand he had a good reason..........he could not because he was not with his wife ;)

You might feel cheated, right Ike? Well, too bad, you must "get over it", just like Paula Jones. And, the truth is, as long as we make rules that are meant to be broken this way, then things will never change, and there will be no true justice. Real justice is an aspiration, Ike. What are Mr. Clinton's aspirations for justice? I am afraid it amounts to nothing, and if we continue to sweep this all away for the love of money, we'll certainly get what we deserve.

Which brings me to the last comment......about foreigners, who see America as a nation of people who only eat McDonald hamburgers. America is nothing but a huge piggy bank to them, and they don't like it when the piggy bank gets a good shaking up. They worry about their money that's in that same pig, Ike. That's where their allegiance to America starts and ends. I care nothing about what they think of our nation's social problems.

I'm sorry you are stuck on the sex issue and can't get passed it, to see that we have a problem with leadership now, and this President's behavior is dividing our people.

Clinton has brought us down to a very base level. What I can't figure out is why Hillary Clinton is so proud of him. Even if she doesn't even have an active sex life with this man and really doesn't care what he does, how can she sell out American women? I guess she's old and frumpy, and she knows it's a "man's world" for sure now. She must just be resigned to it. She's probably just trying to survive within it........ saving her own a$$. That's got to be it, I guess.

Iqbal,

Please excuse my use of the example of an accident involving your child. I feel terrible now, because Don Hurst has brought it to my attention that this most likely will be very offensive to you. I would never want anything to happen to your children, of course! Please understand, this was my attempt to give you an example of something which you would really care about, but, I am embarrassed by it now.

My Truly Best Regards,

E Graphs

Re: Obsession with Obsessions

Clinton needs a strong censure for lying under oath...

Gee, Iqbal, nice of you to actually get to the point after several thousand lines of commentary on the matter (who said you were being succinct... not me... although I've been nice enough not to point out your ongoing violations of U.S. copyright law). You might have made some brief mention of obstruction of justice. Of course, you're able to lecture us on Russology without mentioning the 1917 Revolution, so I've learned to expect the odd gap in analysis here and there...

Clinton is just an ordinary bloke like us...

Closest you've come to admitting it. :-)

P.

p.s. For the record, I do think the Starr Chamber has been overreaching, often incompetent, and incapable of unearthing the real truth about this administration.
