From my short experiance with IE4, the e-mail program, Outlook, uses MS word for the speel checker. You could try this:

Re-install MS Word.

Make sure you have Outlook Express installed. It is not a core component of IE4.

Please note, I am not that experianced with IE4, I use Netscape 4.06 ONLY.

Netscape has it's own spell checker built in.
