As a BAPI-Certified Partner in the Complementary Software Program, Prism Eases Data

September 14, 1998 08:01 AM

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Prism Solutions, Inc. PRZM , a leading provider of
solutions to deliver business intelligence applications, today introduced to the SAP SAPPHIRE(R)
audience its end-to-end solution to help customers extend the functionality of SAP(TM) R/3(TM) in
data migration and data quality management. The Prism Warehouse Executive(TM) interface to SAP
R/3 has been certified by the SAP Integration and Certification Center (ICC), and the company
recently joined the SAP Complementary Software Partner(TM) Program. The Complementary
Software Program enhances the performance and value of customers' SAP solutions by providing a
resource for proven, high-quality integration of third-party complementary solutions.

Prism Warehouse Executive was certified via the SAP Data Migration Interface (DMI) specification to
facilitate migration of data from legacy and operational systems to R/3. Prism launched a customer
beta program at the end of June for pre-release testing, with expected general availability in the third
quarter.

Prism Warehouse Executive also supports R/3 data extraction and transformation via a source
module released earlier this year. Prism introduced a new release of its Prism Quality Manager(TM)
software specifically designed for legacy data preparation, cleansing and analysis. Together, Prism
Warehouse Executive and Prism Quality Manager create an end-to-end solution that enables
customers to analyze the quality of source data for SAP R/3 migrations, transform and migrate data
into SAP R/3 solutions, and integrate SAP R/3 data with other data sources for enterprisewide data
warehousing initiatives.

Sarah Bassett, director of SAP solutions for Prism, said, "Our interface certification by SAP
underscores Prism's commitment to the SAP market. This is another step in our strategy of providing
comprehensive support for SAP R/3 data integration."

Hitachi Data Systems Announces SAP R/3 Certification for HDS Skyline Series and HDS Pilot
Series S/390-Compatible Mainframe Servers

September 14, 1998 06:08 AM

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1998--Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) today
announced that its HDS Skyline Series(TM) and HDS Pilot Series(TM) mainframe processors are
certified servers for SAP(TM) R/3(TM) enterprise business solutions, providing another high-availability
option for SAP R/3 customers in the S/390 environment.

This certified R/3 business solution runs in a three-tier client/server configuration with the IBM DB2 for
OS/390 database as the top tier on the Hitachi processors.

The HDS Skyline systems use a unique hybrid technology called ACE (Advanced CMOS and ECL),
integrated on the same chip. The HDS' Pilot systems are CMOS based. Both product lines are S/390
compatible and available from HDS and its major distributors around the world.

Skyline has been one of the performance leaders in the high-end processing arena and has achieved
considerable success and penetration in the Fortune 500 market. The certification announced today
enables R/3 customers in the S/390 environment to exploit the performance, scalability, and
availability offered by these processors.

"We have a growing interest from our customers who consider high availability and scalability as
critical factors for choosing the S/390 platform as the R/3 database server," said Lawrence Wilcox,
product manager for SAP solutions within the HDS' Compute line of business.

"With our new partnership with SAP AG, we can now offer this solution not only to our current SAP
R/2(TM) customers who may want to migrate to R/3 on the same platform, but also to those
customers who want to implement R/3 as part of a S/390 environment."

Key Benefits

The addition of HDS as a certified partner offers customers the choice of a leading S/390 compatible
vendor, and access to the HDS range of processor systems. The HDS Skyline and Pilot processors
offer a broad range of growth options that are designed with both the smaller customer and larger
corporate accounts in mind, to simultaneously support their user requirements with subsecond
response times.

SAP Competency Center

To further demonstrate its commitment to SAP business solutions, HDS has established a SAP
Competency Center in Santa Clara, Calif. where SAP(TM)R/3(TM)-trained specialists perform a wide
range of services. Working closely with SAP personnel in Walldorf, Germany, the HDS SAP
Competency Center provides support for the HDS solution for SAP R/3 in the areas of performance
tuning, sizing, and capacity planning as well as benchmark statistics for SAP Standard Application
benchmarks.

Jack, what is the deal that all the sudden almost ALL of Sand's partners now have a solution for SAP's R/3 (and IBM's 390 / DB2) software base?

Could any of this include Sand ?
