Whew! The report was a bust. Bad day for Bubba, but no unleaked revelations. Starr now looks like a sex-obsessed kook out for revenge. We should all be as lucky with our enemies as Mr. Clinton. Could Starr actually be a Clinton mole planted to boost his ratings? Never mind, as long as the approval ratings top 60%, Wall Street will rally. If this doesn't push Hillary into Senate in 2002 on the strength of the sympathy vote, nothing will.

The Economist reviewed the new subscriber growth numbers - barely above 25% in USA, 130% in France, 80% in Italy, 40% in Germany. No wonder Lucent wants a foothold in Europe; very surprising and a little ominous that less than 25% of Lucent's revenues come from outside its home market. Over 60% of Danish retailers now recommend Nokia phones to customers! You had to know that.

Rumors swirl around Nokia's world phone project. When will it debut and which standards will it incorporate? It's their most closely guarded corporate secret right now. And I have to find out what's going on. C'mon... anyone who's working on this thing - drop me a line. I never betray my sources, not even if subpoenaed. The recent developments on the satellite phone front are interesting. Could Nokia and Ericsson undermine the hapless satellite projects with cheap, light world phones? Bosch is having some early success with its own USA/Asia/Europe/Australia GSM phone.
