My guess for huge downgrade in estimates over the last week for AMZN by every single analyst on earth:

They've decided they have to restate earnings for the "one time charge for all our advertising" fiasco. If you subtract out those numbers, the new estimates make sense. Folks, the analysts havn't just slightly lowered earnings estimates, they have indicated that amazon's losses will DOUBLE this quarter from what the losses were a month ago.

Either A) Amazon has suddenly stopped selling books
B) They're going to restate earnings for possibly the previous
quarter and since they can no longer write off advertising
expenses as "one time charges" their losses will be larger
than expected for future quarters.

It will be interesting to see if Amazon can ever turn a profit now that they actually have to list advertising expenses as a normal recurring expense.
