NT and SGI Any thoughts on How NT 5 delays will hurt SGI's future sales?? Aren't the new machines designed to optimize NT 5 over NT 4. regards Don

So in this scenario, they would lose revenue from the UNIX customers while having to compete with the likes of IBM, Dell, Compaq etc for NT orders. Not a recipe for success in my opinion. I do hope the word you are getting is wrong. I still believe that the move to NT will only distract SGI and add to their development costs. Plus, I believe (and hope) that MS is approaching their zenith - they have offended far too many people (esp. customers and developers). Pushing IRIX on the low-end as a better integrated, better supported Linux-compatible would be better. The growth in Linux is huge. I do not believe it is the solution to all computing problems and I do not religiously believe in the concept of free/open-source software, but Linux is getting into all the places SGI wants to sell to. Sorry, I'm in a bit of a rant mood today :-) Ed
