Always willing to provide an opinion.

NASDAQ up at the open, fizzles in the first 30 minutes and the bottom drops out entirely. IFMX off 1/2 to 3/4 on the day. No particularly negative IFMX news. Just another day in a BEAR market.

johnlea -- Under other economic circumstances I might have your same glasses on. However, this is a BEAR market. It is also the beginning of the 'we aren't buying a lot of new software products until after Y2K' season (read Computerworld 9/7/98 page 10 about Oracle -- check the comments from Dunlop Tire's IT manager re: Y2K and ANY product purchases).

Also, Oracle has renamed 8.1 to 8i. So what you ask? Well I was selling against SYBS when those goofballs jumped a few product numbers and came out with lucky #7. Didn't seem like much at the time, but it helped them gain mind and market share. Oracle, renaming the silly thing to 8i, has positioned themselves for mind share accumulation for new internet projects. Subtle, but important. No this isn't a technology comparison assessment or an Oracle biased comment. Just a feeling that this was a wise move on their part and it will be at the expense of IFMX and SYBS.

Yes, ORCL put up some good numbers. It is because they CONTINUE to grow the daylights out of their services organization and the rates are escalating. ORCL will be services company in three years, giving away the software their services organization specializes in. Can IFMX live in that climate?

Much as I like IFMX, I'm afraid I'd have to say $19 isn't in the cards for a couple years, if ever. You'll see $2 well before every seeing a $19, so wait and buy cheaper.
