Well that is the price you need nowadays to bring up a low cost mine into production.

Production costs will be low at Cerro San Pedro, but add in non-cash costs and admin costs and the picture is not as rosy with gold below $300.

Very few mines will be brought up at current gold prices.. You need a cash costs below $125 and if possible below $100 to spend the capital and get a healthy return with gold at $290. These very low cost deposits are extremely rare.

But if gold rise to $350 or $400, there Metallica and others provide you with great leverage.
