HILLSBORO, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1998--Intel Corporation and WorldCom's UUNET Technologies today announced a program that combines UUNET's leading Internet service with Intel's award-winning Intel(R) Express Routers and InBusiness(TM) Internet Station to offer small and medium-size businesses one of the most flexible and affordable Internet access solutions available in the market today.

As part of this effort, Intel and UUNET announced the first channel program to offer both company commission and salesperson incentives to resellers who provide customers with combined Internet access products and services.

"This program continues to build upon our strong commitment to our resellers," said Jim Bodio, product line manager for Intel's Network Products Division. "Together with UUNET, we are enhancing revenue and technology opportunities to help resellers build Internet solutions for their customers."

With this new program, small and medium-size businesses will now have access to a simpler, more affordable and more reliable solution. Intel's products offer the flexibility, affordability and simplicity of access management. Internet access from UUNET provides 100 percent service availability, guarantees on installation dates and unparalleled customer service.

"The Intel/UUNET program offers resellers easy-to-use integrated solutions, with quality products that they know and trust," said Brad Wise, director of channel sales, UUNET Technologies. "This program represents another step in UUNET's plan to help resellers and end users make the most of Internet technologies."

The Reseller Advantage

This unique program includes a total reseller/salesperson compensation of almost $3,000 on the combined sale of UUNET Internet Services with Intel InBusiness Internet Station or Intel Express Routers. Specifically, the compensation consists of a $50 to $2,300 reseller commission and $50 to $350 salesperson incentive.

In addition, resellers are able to purchase product from their Intel distributor of choice at anytime throughout the installation process. In many circumstances where services and products are combined, resellers are forced to purchase the package in advance. With this package, resellers are not forced to hold inventory while waiting for a telephone company to install lines on the customer's premise.

SARCOM, a national value-added reseller of networking products, works with both Intel and UUNET to provide leading technology solutions to companies throughout the country. "This program offers tremendous opportunities for resellers like SARCOM," said Wade Hicks, vice president of services for SARCOM. "We now have the ability to provide a more complete Internet access solution as well as ongoing Internet services to our customers."

Product Details

Resellers can provide several hardware options to their customers as part of the program. The Intel InBusiness Internet Station is designed specifically for small businesses. With this product, multiple users can simultaneously access valuable information and communicate with vendors and customers, using only one phone line, potentially saving hundreds of dollars each month when compared to paying for multiple phone lines.

Intel's Express Routers are targeted at regional and branch offices and offer a wide variety of solutions, ranging from simple Internet access to VPNs (virtual private networks) to traditional WAN (wide area network) routing. The rich set of features and intuitive configuration software help simplify router setup, help provide strong security, and streamline traffic to help keep WAN costs to a minimum.
