william, it wasn't me that was right, it was what the tape was broadcasting loud and clear. It is not uncommon that when the news is out is when you'll see the bottom, so I wouldn't be surprised if that happens today. It is definitely time to cover shorts on CIEN unless one believe's that CIEN is going to fail. I'm not so sure about going long, but I do hope it works out for you.

Hi William,

Just read your post to Barbara. Like you, I am a long-term holder of Ciena. I bought it months ago at $44, and the scuttling of the Tellabs deal hurts. But I still think the fiber optics future is big enough for all comers to prosper. Still, I am not a techie. What are your reasons for thinking that our faith in Ciena is well-placed? Yes, another suitor may come along and buy her, but I am more interested in why they would do so, from a technology standpoint. Congrats on buying it so low. I am considering buying more . . . and would if I understood the fundamental technological reasons to do so. Can you help me out?
