Business Wire - September 15, 1998 08:14
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 1998--

Latest Release of Industry Leading Platform Adds Many New Design

Wins

At pulver.com's Voice on the Net conference, Natural MicroSystems, the technology leader in Open Telecommunications(TM), today announced several new design wins for the company's Fusion(TM) IP telephony platform. North American Partners developing new solutions based on Fusion 2.0 technology include Digitcom Multimedia, Interface Alternatives, IP Voice, Interactive Telephony Systems, Inter-tel, International Communications Group (ICG), Internet Telephony Solutions, NetSpeak, NeTrue, Science Dynamics, Speechlink, TALX Corporation, Telesoft, Inc., and WellTel Network, Inc.

The company also announced several international Partners who have chosen the Fusion 2.0 Internet Protocol (IP) Telephony platform to create applications such as Local Area Network (LAN) Telephony, Internet Call Waiting and Web-enabled call centers. Widespread adoption of Fusion 2.0 is evidence of the growing commitment of industry leaders to develop voice- and fax- over-IP solutions based on open platforms and operating systems.

Built on Microsoft Windows NT Server, Fusion 2.0 offers developers of high-value IP telephony applications a rich software development environment and access to proven programming tools, which are significant advantages over solutions based on closed, proprietary architectures and operating systems. Fusion is the only H.323-compliant IP telephony platform capable of supporting multiple T1/E1 spans in a single chassis.

"Developers in the increasingly competitive telecommunications market need an extensible, programmable platform that enables them to bring solutions to market quickly and cost efficiently over the entire product development lifecycle," said Joel Hughes, director of IP Telephony at Natural MicroSystems. "The solutions being developed today on the Fusion 2.0 platform will remain at the forefront of innovation because of the platform's ability to integrate new technologies and new functionality. That's the beauty of Open Telecommunications(TM)."

"After reviewing all of the prominent purveyors of VoIP equipment, we found that Natural MicroSystems' Fusion platform stood prominently above the rest. Fusion gives us the performance and scalability that our carrier-grade solutions demand," said Anthony K. Welch director and co-founder of IPVoice. "It is because of Fusion that we now deliver the VoIP industry's first and only carrier-grade platform with fully-integrated, real-time business management and network administration. We are delighted to be partners with Natural MicroSystems and remain confident of our mutual success."

"Fusion 2.0 allows NetSpeak to deliver its next generation of high-performance, H.323- enabled carrier-grade solutions," said Robert Kennedy, president and chief operating officer of NetSpeak. "We are committed to providing enhanced user services and applications based on industry standards. Our partnership with Natural MicroSystems helps us to rapidly achieve this objective."
