Chuz, <Realistically, I see perhaps four more years of hypergrowth> That's enough to turn $25,000 into damn near $1 million. this is not, you should pardon the expression, pussy-footing around!

chuzz, i'm still involved here for a while. i understand your math which i would agree with using your assumptions giving Dell an overall average marketshare per all segments and growth per segment being also averaged. however, using different growth rates for the different segments while using actual current market share assumptions (capturing market share per segment at higher rates, i.e., moving from 1% enterprise market share to 10% to 12% over four years positively weights the overall results relative to total average market share over time relative to a higher growth in the enterprise market) yields different and various results

what do you think of this overall market?

Chuzz - hope you had a good weekend - as to hypergrowth, I'm not sure if this factor is in your evaluations: Replacement. I see the future as more and more "entertainment" and personal communications driven, mostly as a result of bandwidth availability. What this means, to me, is the Pentium II machine I have now is going to be replaced in less than two years, and I believe I will have to replace it with at least one machine, relegating it to other functions.

We download image files and text now - we're going to have the bandwidth to do real video-on-demand and video telephony, but we'll need more computer hardware to do it.
