JJ, you asked >Do the comments by CFO Bronson change anyone's
short/long term outlook for AMAT?
"The industry will recover, but not to its previous growth levels"
<

Sure do. Maybe this isn't such a no-brainer after all.
Now I believe the stock can go below 20.

re: the comments by CFO Bronson :

It's meaningless, because no one has any visibility.

I said this for a long time, when I thought AMAT's management, and the analysts who follow their guidance, were being too optimistic. It's still true, now that they are being pessimistic. The truth is they just don't know.

Joe,

I remember someone from AMAT(I think!) in '97 predict the end of the cyclical pattern of the industry we are currently experiencing. In good times, predictions tend to be too optimistic and during the darkest days of a downturn the reverse is also true.
