George, if I understand you correctly--that would be your statement about Clinton being in a jam because he engaged in sexual activities outside of the ordinary--I think I understand what you are saying, if the point you are making is that you believe we are a moralistic and conservative puritanical culture at heart. And I guess from your point of view, you might also add hypocritical. Am I at all right here? I don't want to put words in your mouth, or misunderstand you.

If that's not part of your point, please post me back.

I agree that he should resign, because he is mortally wounded and will hurt his party and its sometimes noble causes unless he is removed. I also think he is too distracted to concentrate on foreign policy, which really needs focused attention at the moment. I think he has always been looking out a lot more for himself than the Democrats, and that that is one of the reasons he is not perceived as a team player by most of them. It is hard for me to imagine him doing the right, decent thing, however, because he is very selfish.

What I think I disagree with you about is why he should resign. What made me sick in the Starr report is the abysmal way he treats women. I think we are all grown-up enough to give people space to experiment sexually, but he was simply using Monica. She was disposable. I also think that with all the disgusting spin about "private" sexual acts by his aides and loyal Democrats, they are hoping we will forget that this was sex in the workplace with a subordinate, which is not private at all. Further, the reason that Judge Susan Webber Wright may issue a contempt citation against him in the Paula Jones case is that he deprived her of her legal rights in the lawsuit.

I don't feel like an imbecile! I am proud of myself for doing a lot of reading and thinking about all this, and making my own decisions. I must say that as the mother of a teenaged daughter, I have a gut reaction as well. It's hard enough to teach good morals without Bill Clinton acting out in the Oral Office.

I finished all the Wheat Thins this weekend. Wanna share my Cheez-Its?
