Hard to put a positive spin on this news. The OEM confirmation is decent news but we all know 3DFX needs strong high end sales to produce profit. If the slowdown reflects a sharp decrease in demand for Voodoo2 and not a seasonal problem we may be in deep trouble.

The way I look at it they already dropped the ball WRT the stock price and stock market position. The stock is dead until at least 1st or 2nd quarter of 1999. (at least from the standpoint of the people on this board recouping their losses, it may increase 100% from now till then but unless your buying now what difference will it make.)
When Microsoft made windows they practically gave it away. Low price, no copy protection and no litigation for infringement. I would argue this is how you capture the market. Get the most boards into the most computers making the hardware and software industry cater to that design. At that point you can produce and charge whatever you want. Maybe Voodoo95 and a couple of years later make Voodoo98 that offers the same card with some bugs fixed. (most people call this a driver update but Microsoft calls it a new operating system.)

By the way, screw the dividends, I'm not ready to retire on a fixed income.
