If Wall Street expects big announcements at the time of the NN's annual meeting, why isn't our stock price rising in advance of those announcements, particularly by short-term oriented investors? Who on Wall Street do you mean? From all I can tell, there aren't a lot of analysts on a first-name basis with NN's management team. I hope someday they are. Until that happens, we plebs will get the news the same way everyone else does --- when it's announced. Incidentally, today Efficient Networks announced an xDSL contract with Ameritech: <<< EFFICIENT NETWORKS SELECTED BY AMERITECH AS CPE PROVIDER FOR ITS ADSL SERVICE - FYI Copyright (C) 1998 TeleChoice, Inc. September 14, 1998 -- Efficient Networks, Inc., today announced that it has been selected by Ameritech to provide asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network adapters for use in Ameritech's ADSL network infrastructure. Efficient's low-cost SpeedStream 3010 ATM25 network adapters will serve as customer premises equipment (CPE) for Ameritech.net's High Speed Internet Service. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. Full Story: xdsl.com >>>> Since Ameritech and SBC are merging, and since NN has a contract with SBC for ATM, and since NN has a development agreement with Efficient Networks for xDSL, is it too big a leap to hope NN will get Ameritech, too?mainstreetxpress.com June 9, 1998 -- To reinforce their joint commitment to delivering interoperable digital subscriber line (DSL) solutions, Efficient Networks, Inc. and Newbridge Networks today announced they have demonstrated high-performance cell-based asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) interoperability between their respective customer premise equipment (CPE) and central office products. Efficient Network's SpeedStream 3020 and 5010 DMT ADSL modems and the Siemens / Newbridge MainStreetXpress¦ 36170 Multiservices Switch have successfully demonstrated seamless interoperability in ATM ADSL tests conducted at the Newbridge laboratories in Kanata, Ontario. newbridge.com August 26, 1998 -- Newbridge Networks today announced an agreement with SBC Operations Inc. to provide MainStreetXpress 36170 Multiservices Switches. Newbridge also will provide SBC with a MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager and MainStreetXpress 48020 MultiNetwork Service Controller. The three-year agreement is valued at over $300 million. Looking for more Ameritech-NN connections, I found the following:mainstreetxpress.com January 17, 1997 -- Newbridge Networks today announced it has acquired Danring A/S from Tele Danmark. Danring has been a distributor of Newbridge state-of-the-art networking systems since 1987, covering Denmark, Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. "The acquisition of Danring is intended to strengthen the presence of Newbridge Networks in Denmark in particular and the Scandinavian market in general as deregulation, liberalization and greater competition in the region open up new opportunities," said Peter Charbonneau, Newbridge President and Chief Operating Officer. "Danring's reputation for high quality service and technical expertise reflects the high caliber of its people and their extensive experience in the installation, use and support of all Newbridge equipment." Early last year, Tele Danmark, which operates in the deregulated Danish telecommunications environment, selected Danring to supply Newbridge equipment for one of the largest domestic Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) backbone networks in Europe. The network provides advanced broadband business services and consolidates existing frame relay and leased-line traffic. Tele Danmark expects to achieve significant cost savings through consolidation of network traffic on the backbone. Tele Danmark is the national telecommunications service provider in Denmark and, in partnership with Ameritech and Singapore Telecom, owns 50% minus 1 share of Belgacom, the national carrier in Belgium, as well as a substantial share of a number of other European telecommunications operators. Tele Danmark is a publicly traded company which is listed on the Copenhagen and New York stock exchanges as well as on the SEAQ in London.
