Tony: Don't confuse board sales and chipset sales.

Voodoo2 board sales are still strong (and with lowered prices should continue to be). It's chipset sales that have dribbled off.

What happened apparently was every boardmaker (Creative Labs, Diamond, STB, and a hundred little guys) bought Voodoo2 like there was no tomorrow and flooded the market. Probably because so many of them missed out on early high margin sales when Voodoo2 was scarce (due to memory shortages). This gave 3Dfx a couple of good quarters, but now the floodwaters have to recede before they can start selling again.

Of course there's no flood of Banshee boards or chipsets on the market, and system OEM sales will be starting in volume in a few weeks. Meanwhile Christmas is going to be very kind to Voodoo2.

I am puzzeled that some of you are surprised that V2 sales are down.

Actually, everybody expected V2 sales to be down but to have Banshee make up the difference. A drop of this proportions was not expected.

Jeff report two weeks ago from DZ:
www2.techstocks.com

You can't tell me that DZ didn't know back then that they weren't going to make the quarter. The revenue loss will be at least 50% quarter over quarter. This should have been very evident at the time (two weeks ago) or they are completely clueless. In retrospect, I believe that no insider sales have occurred because they didn't want a shareholder lawsuit and not because of some great confidence in the stock. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.
