Hope to get a response from anyone else who has an opinion about ciena.

Eugene,

I own CIEN long and added to my position today. I cannot honestly say I understand the market's reaction to CIEN. They did lose a contract with AT&T and part of a contract with another firm the name of which aludes me. Margins are being squeezed as more competition arises in their area. However, they are the only firm with an operating 40 channel unit I believe and their gross margins are still around 48%.

Their weakest area appears to be their sales force and the strongest their technology. If they cannot sell their product, they are sure to disappoint when it comes to earnings. They need to clean up the sales act which is likely easier than catching up on technology. That is why I added to my position today. There is a lot of talk about other suitors for CIEN after the break-up of the TLAB offer. I do not buy stock based on acquisitions.

It is my opinion that downside from here is minmial and a 20-30% upside is possible in a month. That is all I can tell you.

Glenn

ciena <<

What gave you that impression?

Sure thing. #reply-5540929

Sure thing. Here are my most recent thoughts.

Don't play games with me. You weren't interested in my opinion. If you were, why didn't you ask me on the CIEN thread? Why did you ask me if I was long and then "Hmmm...sorry". That doesn't sound like someone interested in my opinion, it sounds like someone who is trying to taunt me.

>>thought I had noticed it on your profile, then when I looked at your profile, it was not there. <<

Correct, I removed it. I have no interest in CIEN whatsoever at present time and I am tired of people thinking that I do. I've had no interest in TLAB recently either, so I guess I will remove that one as well.

>> You seem a bit touchy, and trust me, I have no idea why, I just got here <<

To be frank, I am tired of people giving me flack about CIEN, like I am the #1 champion of that company or something. I have been a big proponent of the company in the past, but when I tell people that I have voted my money with my feet, (example: #reply-5563055) they ignore that and insist on believing that I am long and losing money, and then proceed to try to throw it in my face. If you would like I can find you about a dozen links to that effect.
