I actually found something interesting on the Yahoo thread in regards to the comparison of ULBI and VLNC product. This is from Chuzzelwit:

Here's another way to look at the specifications released by the companies.

Comparison of two cars named ULBI and VLNC

The ULBI costs $12,000 to $14,000, has 296 horsepower, can go 296 miles on a tank of gas and weighs 2620 lbs. The VLNC cost $8000 to $10,000, has 532 horsepower, can go 532 miles on a tank of gas and weighs 3900 lb. Acceleration is better for the VLNC because its horsepower to weight ratio is 20% higher.

It looks like the price will be lower for the VLNC's because the company is preparing to make a much larger quantity. If you are committed to buying ULBI's and need more horsepower, you can pay a total of $24,000 to $28,000 for two of them, bolt them together and get 592 horsepower and a range of 592 miles, but the combo will weigh 1340 lbs more than the VLNC and cost about 3 times as much.
