>>In about 1937, our "great" President, FDR sent a ship with I think about 1000 German Jews back to Germany knowing they were being sent to their death because he did not want to antagonize Hitler by granting them asylum. Talk about dishonorable.<<

Yes, some have definitely lost perspective. I think the right wingers are so upset by all this simply because they are so much more sexually repressed than others. (:>)

I agree this topic is best left for the clubhouse.

I agree. Also, there are subsequent troublesome examples of how the dispossessed have been treated, including current ones. I can say this with some surety because, in part, some of my own work and also some of my own personal activism have allowed me some direct experience.

Here we are now David, fortunate people, traders and investors, and people with careers in several walks of life. We have above average income and assets. We enjoy all this in a country we would probably not trade for another. Our gratitude and relative comfort should be sufficient to allow us some time away from self interest, in terms of thought, feeling, attitude and action. If we do take this opportunity to extend ourselves into the world in these ways, we will know more of some of the rewards of responsibility.

I am most anxious to see how our HDIE unfolds during the rest of this week. We have shared a lot on this thread. I look forward to good things happening for all of us. A lot of people have contributed much in terms of their intelligence, persistence, experience, time, and availability. Humor too when we needed it.

Best,
Charliss
