"E-Commerce Is for Real, NationsBanc Montgomery Securities Internet Analysts Tell Investors""...Amid all of the hype about the promise of electronic commerce on the Internet, several well-positioned companies have emerged with strong business models that should yield robust revenues and profits, according to two Internet analysts for NationsBanc Montgomery Securities. ''The e-commerce business model is working,'' said David B. Readerman, who along with Steven R. Horen provided an analysis of the nascent Internet economy to investors attending the 28th Annual NationsBanc Montgomery Securities Investment Conference, which opened yesterday. The conference, which is the firm's largest to date, features 245 companies with a combined market capitalization of $1.6 trillion making presentations to more than 1,900 portfolio managers. These managers represent 280 different institutions with a combined $3.5 trillion in assets under management...For e-commerce to take off, it will require security mechanisms such as digital certificates, Readerman said.
