Thanks, Christine.Thanks for getting me interested in this fun thread. "Clocks on the beach" in my post was just an allusion to this metaphor in Rick's post: Play along a little more please. Let's assume you landed on a deserted island and found a clock lying on the beach. Not only was it a beautiful object in an aesthetic sense, but when you removed its casing you discovered a marvelous mechanism--one whose precise functioning clearly enabled this device to perform as it did....
