The alternative is exactly what has happened to TDFX. They don't have a solid base of customers therefore they sink or swim based on their product announcements or the competition. Having a stable base of OEM's and cards in a good percentage of boxes ensures stable earnings plus bonuses for new product announcements. So, I think their stock is already in the toilet, why not leave it there and forget about impressing the market with 50% surprises and get product into the channels.
