Has anyone looked at Cymer's poison pill up close? This group took up the subject last year and dropped it because:

1. Cymer has agreements with its customers that would prevent takeovers;
2. Cymer adopted a poison pill.

That said, what would prevent someone else from making a bid?

bob, thanks for the very thorough response to my questions- much appreciated. i'm sure others on the thread found your post useful as well.

is it safe to say that you are in agreement with the rather simplistic story that i have come to believe: that cymi has a dominant market position that they should be able to maintain for the next 2+ years at a minimum. once the downturn (collapse) in semi equip spending abates, cymi is positioned to recover strongly as their duv lasers will only become more and more necessary in the process going forward.

i took 40% of my projected position today @ just under $8. couldn't resist as it looks like a washout to me. rarely take a full position on the first buy and NEVER take one when the stock is a falling knife. could be dead $ for a while but...... the market is a leading indicator so if a recovery starts in late 1999, the market will start to move the stocks in early 99. even if wrong, the 'fake-out' rally in these obliterated issues should be worth >50% imo based on seeing this pattern in this industry and others. the steels had a very powerful fake-out rally this year for example.

thanks again bob. back to work.....

all imo only....nick
