Cognicase Awarded Major Contract by District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue
MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 1998--COGNICASE Inc. (NASDAQ:COGIF - news; TSE:COG. - news), announces that it has been awarded a contract for the development and implementation of a Year 2000 solution for the automated tax systems of the District of Columbia's Office of Tax and Revenue. The contract is valued at over U.S.$2.0 million.

''This contract involves assessment, remediation, testing and implementation for three primary mainframe tax applications. Work will be completed in early 1999, allowing the Office of Tax and Revenue to achieve Year 2000 compliance,'' noted Carl Simard, vice president Sales and Marketing of COGNICASE. ''These are mission-critical systems for the District of Columbia government, providing further demonstration of our ability to deliver competitive software solutions to international customers from our Montreal factory.''

For the first nine months of fiscal 1998, COGNICASE has achieved dynamic growth with revenues increasing to U.S.$34.4 million compared to U.S.$5.0 million in the similar 1997 period. Net earnings for the period rose to U.S.$6.0 million from U.S.$470,000.
