Points well made, R.C. I hope this ends the Clinton scandals discussion on the CSCO thread. CSCO is splitting 3:2 today and stock will probably lose ground. Does anyone know why stocks generally lose ground on splits? Tulvio

1. To the gentleman comparing Clinton to Reagan. If you can produce the evidence that Reagan even
KNEW about Iran-Contra let alone lied about it, I'm sure you will find many from the left eager to
revisit this issue. What you wish to be true doesn't make it true if you can't prove it. Actually Reagan
volunteered twice to testify, Clinton refused to testify and when forced to he lied.

Reagan gave the "I can't recall" reply so many times that if he was not lying it suggested that either (1) his dementia was too advanced for him to be able to serve, or (2) his handlers were out of control and using him completely as the figurehead that he was. Therefore, he should have been removed for any of the above reasons.

Carrying on an affair with a 21 year old intern showed an incredible lack of judgement.

I have no argument with this. I also think that FDR showed bad judgment in his affair in office, as did Eisenhower, JFK (multiple times), and probably Bush (if rumors were correct). In this group, Clinton and JFK are probably running a dead heat for poor judgment. Probably the only one who didn't have an affair was Nixon, but he screwed all of us...

Take this to
the bank, there is not an executive or CEO in this country that would still have his job after pulling
such a stunt.

This may be true. However, I suspect that even if Michael Dell or Bill Gates were found having sex with their dogs they would remain CEO's. (In other words, the harshness of the penalty is inversely proportional to the company's earnings).

>> 2. Clinton lied to a federal grand jury. Period. The subject matter is irrelevant. If this act is left untried or pardoned I fear for the fabric of our judicial system and anyones ability to receive a fair trial. You are on a very slippery slope if you can condone perjury. <<

Here's where I disagree. I think what he has done is way less than what Nixon did. I think he should resign and be pardoned "if the evidence holds true".

If Nixon could be pardoned, then Clinton should get no less. It's too bad, because I think he's done a great job. I just can't hold him above the law.

I won't post anymore about it.... :-)

Look, Clinton was wrong, no question and the fact that he got caught and his wrongdoing presented to the American people in such a graphic report is incredibly embarrassing -- would be for anyone. Just imagine this thread having the opportunity to write and discuss what you do with your significant other tonight!

Just think about it like this. He had an affair - if you read the report, according to Starr, his appointed stalker, the whole thing appeared to be a pathetic situation. Clinton reponds to a 21 year old - appears he may have a problem, maybe not, (you know what I mean) and then he finds out she's not stable and she threatens to tell all and ruin his presidency.

Beyond that, Clinton knew if he told the truth about the affair (if it was really an affair -- it could have been his just getting "off" who knows and who cares!!! but he knew you would be reacting just like you are. For his own neck (which he admitted) for the sake of his wife and child (can you imagine the destruction of his image in the eyes of his daughter) -- that had to be even worse than Hillary's anger and disgust -- He knew this public outrage and call for his head would happen. Now you tell me what man wouldn't try to protect himself, his family -- and in this case (not that he thought about this first) his country. America is so wrapped up in this pornographic report that it can't function and I would say that it is particularly important to all of you white males -- just like Clinton -- who already hate him or in many cases wish you could have the power he commands.

What happened is horrible -- I feel sorry for every young person who has to grapple with this. Clinton made it possible, but each and every one of you are adding fuel to the fire --AND Congress should be shot -- especially those weak-kneed Democrats who are so scared of losing their seats that they sacrificed the dignity of the country and the family to let that report be placed on the Internet. That report I believe is worse than any poro that is on the internet because it is explicit about someone every child knows.

So my bottom line is yes, its horrible and yes he probably lied. BUT because I am not so partisan or such a Clinton hater, I can at minimum wait until all the facts are out. You guys want to lynch the man -- tar and feather him -- but if, by chance your human frality were to show itself in some way, I bet you could see the value of not kicking a pathetic "dog" -- in the generic sense -- when he is down. He's kicking himself. So back off - think about something else, and just maybe as we spit, tonight, start considering what you are going to do with your profits.

Sorry for the long-winded response, but I have been listening or reading you guys for days now, and let me tell you, from where I sit you seem to be getting as much pleasure from kicking Clinton as he got from Monica. Just an honest observation.
