Defiant organist ordered to make holy music
dailynews.yahoo.com.

DUESSELDORF (Reuters) - A German church organist was ordered Monday to
provide music
during prayer recitals in an effort to end a feud between him and his local priest.

Franz-Peter Kautz, organist at the St Pius church in the west German city of
Oberhausen, refused to
accompany priest Peter Bohna's prayer sessions after he was banned from breeding
dogs on church
premises two years ago.

He said church authorities in the nearby bishopric of Essen determined his duties, not
Father Bohna.
An industrial tribunal disagreed.

''You can't do what you want after 30 years service,'' Kautz was told as the court judge
handed
down his ruling. ''You can't expect the Pope himself to issue a decision.''

The lawyer acting for St Pius church said it had launched 15 other legal suits against
Kautz for failing
to perform his duties.
