Since I've been wrong 100% over the last 6 months, I decided to try to short TDFX since I would normally be a buyer in this kind of situation.

However, if it is any consolation, I have tried 5 times since 10:45am through Schwab and I can't get any shares.

The bad news is Voodoo 2 sales are down. The good news is that we should be hearing about some oem commitments on Voodoo Banshee soon. Three months ago, it did not appear that 3dfx was at all in the running for oems. Now they are.
Drop off in Voodoo2 sales is understandable, what with all the competition coming out saying they are the best during this last quarter. Consumers probably stepped back to try to sift the hype from the reality.
If we get two or three oems next quarter for Voodoo Banshee, and get a spill over of pent up demand from the third quarter, 4Q ought to look really good.
With that, it is hard to fight a swing of $1.00 a share in earnings, from $.50 profit to $.50 loss. It was only a couple of weeks ago when Ballard was saying that 3Q was on track to equal 2Q, but that 3Q is typically back loaded with September. I guess half way into September there is too much inventory out there not to preannounce.
When will the shorts cover? At book value? Very close to it now.
