I have records of 2 more judge impeachments. One was Judge Archibald in 1913,removed from office because he solicited favors from railroad companies. Apparently this wasn't an indictable case. Also, Judge Ritter in 1936 for his actions in a receivership case, even though he was acquitted of the charges in a trial. The original definition of the word misdemeanor was broader than today.
Apparently many people think committing multiple felonies isn't grounds for impeachment and conviction. What would it take to convince them?
It's interesting that private polls of probable voters are showing a different picture than public polls. Likely voters are more conservative and include a lot of older voters who weren't raised on the idea of flexible morality.

What Federal law did he break by having an affair?

As to breaking the law by lying to a Federal official, I imagine if you want to enforce that you'll have the entire congress in jail pretty soon.

As for your prediction, we'll see. It's based on the assumption that the proceedings will be entirely legalistic instead of political. I doubt if that's what will happen.
