Stubborn BSOD in NT: any ideas?

Wow, I'm having big problems stopping BSOD on this new machine. Each time I think I have the problem isolated, I'm wrong. It isn't the OC'ing, since it happens at the same points whether at 266/66 or 400/100.

The error that keeps recurring is
stop: 0x0000000A IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Address 8012cbce has base at 80100000 - ntoskrnl.exe

This happens repeatedly during an install of WP 8 from CD, whether or not my SCSI drive is installed (tho it seems to happen later in the process when installing from an IDE CD-rom.)

When installing from SCSI, I also get this error:

stop 0x0000004E (0x00000002, 0x00005be7, 0x00007fff, 0x00000f00) PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

I've checked the MSKB and Deja News on these errors, and basically I'm told to check for bad drivers. I've completely rooted out the new Symbios driver that caused the BSOD when the scanner was turned on, and don't know what other drivers could be causing the problem.

Another puzzle: I've set NT to do a dump of physical memory and to auto-reboot. Sure enough, when BSOD hits, I get a "dumping physical memory" message. But no matter how long I wait, this doesn't happen--no disk thrashing or eventual rebooting. Also, nothing is sent to Event Viewer, even though I have the box checked in System properties. (I seem to recall this also happening in a previous NT installation.)

I hope it isn't the BX chipset. A new bios is due soon for this MB: I 'll do some checking to see if others have had a problem with this chipset.

Any advice, from Sean, Spots, or other NT gurus, would be _very_ welcome here. This setup has already consumed much more time than I'd
hoped. I've never had so many stability problems with NT.

Thanks,

Dave

SCSI

DS-503S? Is it a Pioneer DR-503S?

Yes, assuming you have a single channel controller both CD and scanner should be terminated. The controller should NOT be terminated as it is in the middle of the chain. If you have just an external or internal device then the host adapter would be terminated as it would be at one end of the chain.

The Adapter probably has auto termination for itself ( senses both devices and disables it's own termination ) but you need to verify. Also I am sure you are aware that each device requires its own ID. The host adapter is most likely ID 7, and the other two devices require a unique ID.

Have you tried each device independently?

Missed your post Spots as it was a combined post..did not mean to be redundant.
