George describes what transpired in LMDS land quite accurately. Better than I understood things to be happening at the time. I started a position in cellular vision in October of 97, and was following events in the LMDS arena through the auction by the FCC (which, by the way, was postponed until January).

In retrospect, cellular vision was a screwed up company in the first place, managed by people who didn't understand either the telecommunications industry or the technology.

Combine this with the FCC's inept handling of the auctions -- although one can't place total blame for the failure on ground as they were caught between Congress, the telecom act of 1996, the big telcos, and hard place -- and you have a large-scale disaster. And, a sizable chunk of my capital down the drain.

Live and learn.
