Greatings Dellheads...

I would just like to announce that I have just made my second purchase of DELL, added another chunk of shares to the position I took 3 months ago.

My thanks to all the informative posters on this thread.

Cheers
Jock-e

Chuzz <<since Dell has only an 8% market share>> Dell has 8% marketshare in one segment (desktops) and in one market (the America's). Laptop market share in the America's is higher. But in Europe, Latin America and elsewhere their marketshare is less, as you know, for all three segments; enterprise, desktop and laptop and thus has much more room to grow, or capture share. share in Latin America is less than 2% of desktops. thus, your 20% assumption would apply if all new sales came from the America's and in two segments, desktops and laptops. although hypothetically possible and, as you said, simply used as a "hypergrowth" example for another, Dell doesn't necessary need to enter extensive new product sales in order to achieve 35% plus growth each year. capturing additional marketshare in foreign markets and in segments other than desktops would do it. the laptop and enterprise segment is growing faster than the desktop segment. i believe the 15% growth rate to which IDC refers is an average for the desktop/laptop segment.
