Today, Francis is tightening inventory, though with a focus
on keeping fast-moving products such as pet food in plentiful
supply. He's cutting back on items such as aquariums and dog
collars -- non-edible products that don't move off the shelves as
quickly as food.

Uh, the margins on food are very low, collars are marked up
over 100% and don't have a shelf life. PETM would do themselves
a favor hiring more executives with pet experience instead of
general retail experience. Visiting my local store enforces this
opinion.

Anthony,

*** REMOTELY OFF TOPIC ***

FWIW, I was reading in the Phoenix newspapers on Monday (?) that Mark Hansen, the guy who left PetSmart in 1997 to go to Wal-Mart, has now left Wal-Mart for parts unknown. He didn't last long with either company, did he?
