Ok

But I'm not great at this.

You "judge" the bible to be perfect because it came from God.
You then say if we judge God, we put ourselves higher than perfect.

therefore, how can we judge the bible to be perfect?

You treat this as a foregone conclusion that the bible is perfect.

From where do you conclude this, from the bible?

Is not that circular?

I'll take a crack at it Steve. You ask for questions supplying the answers you want as the choice.

Example:

Steve have you repented for sleeping with that whore yet or have you decided it isn't necessary?

You constantly badger people with similar type questions like you did Mark on the slavery bit and judging God.

This bible gateway is really cool. Maybe I will learn something despite myself.

bible.gospelcom.net

Psalms 50:2
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.

Psalms 119:96
I have seen a limit to all perfection, but thy commandment is exceedingly broad.

Lamentations 2:15
All who pass along the way clap their hands at you; they hiss and wag their heads at the daughter of Jerusalem; "Is this the city which was called the perfection of beauty, the joy of all the earth?"

Ezekiel 28:12
"Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord GOD: "You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

Hebrews 7:11
Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levit'ical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchiz'edek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron?

Dear Steve;

I do believe that you could have worded your argument better. I would like to assure you that using the Bible to prove the Bible is not under any interpretation circular reasoning.

The Bible was written by about 40 different authors over a span of some 1500 years. The writers were from many different cultures and world societies. There experences based on unigue periods of history. When these people describe an encounter with the living God it is not circular reasoning it is evidence. If it were simply one book it would be circular, as a collection of 60 books that tell a constant and life changing story, it can only be seen as historical substantiation. I hope this helps.
