I don't know where you got your numbers from, but LRCX never had a stock market capitalization of anywhere NEAR $80 billion.

Looking at the long-term chart, as you suggested, showed that LRCX once traded for close to 8 times its current value. That means LRCX once had about a $3B market cap.

There is a very big difference between $3B and $80B.

Sun Tzu - I'm young enough to weather losses, do not need the money invested in 3dfx in the near-term (and most of my savings are in my 401(k) in mutual funds), and think in the long run that stocks will outperform cash and bonds. Plus timing the market is a fools errand.
