Mark,

First of all, I do not know with 100% certainty what God feels about slavery. I just try to take an objective approach to the subject, but I am far from perfect. So just remember I could be wrong here.

I think where the confusion lies is this, God allows us to make our own decisions. He only intervenes if things are going astray from his ultimate plan! So sometimes he will do radical things to stop us from self destruction (ie - the flood). And sometimes just minor things, like rules and regulations (ie - marriage regulations). We are in control of our own destiny. He just helps us out along the way when we screw things up to much!

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I think you want him to step in and change things radically if they are going wrong, like slavery. Well sometimes, he does and sometimes he does not.

And thats where you need to have belief that God is soveriegn and he does things 100% correctly. I know you don't have this faith and this is where our conversations usually turn away from each other.
