PORTOLA VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1998-- The Dell'Oro Group's 2Q98 Asia/Pacific Region Shared Hub & LAN Switch report reveals total port shipments for the region grew by 12%, vs. a 12% contraction in 1Q98.

Through 1H98, Asia/Pacific total port market leaders are: 3Com, 25%; Allied Telesis, 24%; D-Link, 13%.

Sequential growth in 100 Mbps Shared EN Hubs was -9%, down from +67%; growth in 100 Mbps Switched EN was +11%, up from +6%; and growth in LAN ATM was -2%, up from -5%. 2Q98 Asia/Pacific market share leaders for high speed networking equipment are:

In the 100 Mbps Shared EN market, D-Link and Intel gained ground. In the 100 Mbps Switched EN market, 3Com doubled its share, jumping into the no. 1 position. In the LAN ATM market, Bay recovered its lost market share, at the expense of FORE.

During 2Q98, 10 Mbps Shared EN Hubs represented an increasing portion of total port shipments (59%).
