The IMF is less a bank than a fire department. The calls to the fire department are increasing at an alarming rate.

The basic problem is we freed up capital to move in and out of countries, but most of these countries don't themselves have free markets internally. You cannot call a country whose government controls 50%-80% of the GDP free.

The answer is simple but very hard (I don't know maybe impossible)to get to. Get government control of economies < 30% GDP, slash taxes, implement minimal regulations, and there is no limit to what the worlds people can accomplish.
