Interesting move by SUN. CPQ actually announced their enhanced Unix/NT interoperability 2 weeks ago at a Unix forum, building on their Allconnect Unix/NT program from 1995. HP had announced their program 18 months ago. But both of these companies have the active participation of MSFT in their efforts. I don't imagine there are too many MSFT engineers ready to go out on a limb to help Solaris catch up. So solaris used the AT&T NT license (currently in dispute with MSFT and I think on its way to court for resolution). This may just be another way for SUN to get a legal action going through some backdoor mechanism a-la Caledra, or they could be doing a defensive thing against HP and CPQ. In any event it is a pretty weak offering but better than nothing.
