How quickly this thread has gone from positive to negative on the stock. With all the hype from new chips over the last couple of months, it is no wonder that gamers took a step back and waited to see who was on top before buying a card, or whether they should go for a new computer with a new 3Dchip. 3Qs are notoriously fickle quarters when it comes to technology stocks, especially small tech stocks. I won't minimize the fact that this is a major bump in the road for Voodoo2, but I do not believe that an oem chip is going to replace cards anytime soon. Because 3DFX was on top of the hill, they will have to manage the transition from card to oem a whole lot better than anyone else. Fortunately, they have the balance sheet and the tech pipe to do it.
I thought it was interesting that no one focused on the positive news that they would have tier 1 and 2 oems for voodoo banshee.
