Because he does not want to. He helped to elect Clinton and doesn't want to see the election "overturned". (By the way, if Bubba resigns, Gore becomes President, not Dole right?) Its for the children you see. I can tell you this, if the President was a conservative republican, you can bet Doughboy and the others would be calling for impeachment. JLA

I think he (DougHboy) is just trying to buy time. If Clinton resigns or is run out of office after Jan 20, 1999 then Gore can have a shot at two elections. If Gore assumes the Presidency before, then only one. Clearly the November elections are going to have to bear the burden of the current presidential timber. The only battle left to be won is a counter-balancing Democrat in the WH given the Republican drift of Congress.
