WorldCom-MCI Merger Completed; Yahoo! to Join the Nasdaq-100
Index Beginning Wednesday, September 16

PR Newswire - September 15, 1998 16:43

WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- WorldCom, Inc. (Nasdaq: WCOM), of Jackson, Mississippi, and MCI
Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: MCIC) have completed their merger and the combined company will now take its
place as MCI WorldCom -- the fourth largest company, by market capitalization, listed on the Nasdaq-100 Index(R). Yahoo!
Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO), of Santa Clara, California, will replace MCI (which was also, independently, a component of the
Index) on the Nasdaq-100(R) beginning Wednesday, September 16.

MCI WORLDCOM, Inc., is a global telecommunications company with established operations in over 50 countries
encompassing the Americas, Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions. The company is a premier provider of facilities-based and
fully integrated local, long distance, international and Internet services. Together, MCI WorldCom will be the first "local to
global company," capable of delivering advanced voice and data communications services entirely over its own facilities
worldwide.

"On behalf of The Nasdaq Stock Market and its parent -- the NASD -- we wish to congratulate WorldCom on this notable
merger. MCI WorldCom signals a bright new day for the telecommunications industry, the emerging global marketplace, and
for business partners like the NASD that look to you for continued leadership," said Frank G. Zarb, Chairman and CEO of the
National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD(R)).

Yahoo!(R) is a leading global Internet media company that offers a network of globally-branded Web programming, serving
millions of users daily. Yahoo! provides targeted Internet resources and communications services for a broad range of
audiences, based on demographic, key-subject and geographic interests. As the first online navigational guide to the Web,
www.yahoo.com is the single largest guide in terms of traffic, advertising, household, and business-user reach. Yahoo! has
approximately 98 million shares outstanding.

"With Internet technology changing the way we all do business today, Nasdaq is especially pleased to have Yahoo! -- a leader
in its field -- as a component of this important market indicator," Zarb added.

Launched in 1987, the Nasdaq-100 is a capitalization-weighted index comprising 100 of the largest non-financial stocks that
list on the Nasdaq National Market(R) and is a benchmark for large growth stocks traded on Nasdaq(R).

The Nasdaq Stock Market(R) is the fastest growing stock market in the United States and the world's first and largest
electronic market. It is among the world's best regulated stock markets, employing the industry's most sophisticated
