>> streatch<<

not sure what that word means<g>

>>Intel supplies Compaq with networking chip,CPQ is supposed to go
into networking in a big way this quarter...Why then has CPQ's high end stuff started to use COMS networking stuff. This was in a recent press release.<<

Yes, I remember hearing about CPQ and INTC collaborating
on network equipment with PCs. Also, I think Cabletron might
have been in the picture.

So now CPQ is using COMS networking stuff? By any chance,
do you have a link to this?...very interesting!!

My speculation of why:

1) Maybe this is the first fruits of Mr. Claflin?

2) CPQ realized that all it's networking components weren't
matching up correctly or easily. Home users would be very
frustrated without 100% user friendliness.

3) CPQ had initially intended on using DECs network products
and then realized that they needed to start all over again.

4) The CPQ/INTC/Cabletron alliance was just a trial PR balloon
that never took off.

Just some wild-*ss guesses,g>.

In the midst of COMS up move, there is very
good international news:

Brazil was up 18.68% and
Mexico was up 12.92%

Could mean DOW/NAZ rebounds from July/August.
