<--OT-->A Libertarian isolationist,are you???

First of all we are talking about not aid or charity but loans with stringent stipulations attached to it and the loan/s need to be repaid whether it is the IMF or other entities.As far as I know no country has defaulted on an IMF loan to-date and why would they 'cos if they do that will be the end of future loans. If you recall couple of years ago when Mexico had the financial crisis Rubin acted quickly on behalf of the U.S and arranged a loan for 20 billion which was paid back with interest and before the stipulated time. I guess we did that because Mexico is one of our largest,if not the largest,trading partners and if they go under it means loss of job in the U.S and loss of revenue for the U.S companies,so you see it affects our economy.

Of course we don't need to help anybody if we think others are a mere nuisance and if we can do without 1/3 rd of the GDP.Also we will have to assume others will remain irrelevant forever and we will be prosperous until eternity and would never need any of them now or in the distant future.

PS:In case you didn't know there were many countries very rich and very prosperous in times past....civilizations have a way of rising,then falling only to repeat the process again.

Oh well I gotta go now.
