I got a hold of Kurlack's latest report today. Some highlights:

estimates Q3=.80 '98=3.00 '99=2.90-3.00

sees channel depletion reversal from Q2 helping this quarter (funny he never mentioned this hindering Q2 at the time)

seasonal pick-up but no trend reversal

temporary low supply of low-end chips keeping asps flat, sees lower in coming quarters

celeron taking sales from P2

Perhaps most significantly, does not reiterate price target of "low 60s" - says expectation is for "sluggishness and a dull stock"

Tony - re: " Sounds good, sounds good,"

Kinda Hungry, Kinda Hungry !

The Katmai will be released, I think, in conjunction with software vendors (ISVs) who will simultaneously release KNI-enhanced software.

I'm hoping Intel can coordinate a show-stopping launch with this Katmai.

The initial MMX launch was a dud - as was AMD's K6-2 launch - no significant software availability at the time of the introduction.

At least the Pentium MMX had an additional 16K L1 SRAM to speed up nearly all applications.
